Sub SandwichDo you need to learn how to edit your department’s website?  Would you like to know how to add sub pages, pictures and sidebars?  Our intro class will give you what you need to get started.  We’ll cover the basics of Drupal so you’ll be able to add links, pictures, and a host of other cool things to your site right away.

For you more advanced users who may be tackling needs beyond the basics (such as converting your forms), join us for a work session or two.  We’ll help you get the job done and you’ll leave with the “know how.”

Description: Steve took a 12-week MOOC and survived! Come for an overview of what the course was like. We’ll have a discussion exploring the pros and cons of the MOOC style of online learning.

Need to make changes to your departmental web page?  Could you use a hand with your course website or blog?  Have questions about moving your webforms to our new secure server?  Do wiki formatting woes keep you awake at night?  We have the solution — a peaceful place where you can work on your pages AND get your questions answered.  Sign up for a Website Maintenance Work Session (or two).  Staff from Information Technology Services (ITS) and Academic Technology will be available to answer your questions and help you troubleshoot problems. These are not formal workshops — please bring your work, your questions, and yourself!

Our first session will be offered Tuesday, September 16 at 9:00 am in Davis Family Library, room 105.  Visit go/techworkshops to view the rest of the fall semester schedule.  Please use our convenient online signup form to let us know you what session(s) you plan to attend.

Who needs to come?

  • All new PWTS must attend.
  • Trained PWTs and FYMs who did not attend session 2 must attend.
  • Trained PWTS who are becoming FYSMS should have attended session 2.

What is the topic?

  • Macro to Micro
  • Using a Thesis Statement
  • Hands-on practice session with one of your papers

What should I bring?

  • One of your papers for us to workshop
  • Your folder

Always bring your training folder to all training sessions.
Make-up sessions are only for those who have received prior approval. E-mail Emily Colton to request a makeup. Attending a makeup is a privilege not a right.

Spring 2014 Organization Meeting Thursday, February 13, at 4:30 PM

Our first Peer Writing Tutor and Writing and Academic Mentor training session takes place Thursday, February 13, at 4:30 PM in CTLR (Davis Family Library 225). All new and trained PWTs and FYSMs must attend this Organizational Meeting.   If you are new or were abroad last semester, we will take your picture for our wall, and you will receive your training folder.  If this is your first paid job at Middlebury College, make sure you have all the documents you need for employment.

  • You can find the whole spring training schedule below and at go/pwt.
  • New Tutors will attend all six sessions.
  • Trained PWTs and FYSMs will attend three sessions (Org, Session 2 or 3, and Session 4,5, or 6).

We have only a handful of First-year Seminars in the spring, so we have many Mentors without assignments. Mentors who would like to train and  work as Peer Writing Tutors in the spring, will attend The Org Meeting, Session 2, and Session 4. . Because we added several Commons drop-in sessions last semester, we now have 19 drop-in positions and 19 official alternate drop-in positions.  You can apply for these drop-in positions at the Organization Meeting Thursday, February 13.

If for any reason you will not be training or working in our program spring semester, please email me immediately, and I will remove you from our email list. If you are not graduating in May, you can work for us another semester.
