Farm-Based Education Summer Fellowship at Shelburne Farms

Shelburne Farms is seeking a summer-season, Middlebury student interested in learning from and working alongside their farm-based education programs and staff. The student will live onsite and is immersed in the daily rhythms of the farm and the cycle of the seasons. Farm-Based Camp Educators team-teach up to 9 weeks of their summer camp program.

They offer day camps for ages 4-14, and overnight camps for ages 12-17, which provide youth with opportunities to engage in their food system, build relationships with peers, and explore natural communities.

Mentorship will be provided by education staff members; a variety of texts and resources; and through independent reflection.

Healthcare Policy Internship – Fall 2019 at Cato Institute

The Cato Institute is a public policy research organization — a think tank — dedicated to the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets and peace. Its scholars and analysts conduct independent, nonpartisan research on a wide range of policy issues.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Literature gathering and review on topics such as licensing, Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, employer sponsored insurance, Obamacare, short term plans, the FDA, medical malpractice, telemedicine, and interstate licensure
  • Tracking pending state and federal legislation
  • Collecting data for comparative studies of policies across states and countries
  • Assisting with the creation and implementation of Cato policy forums, hill briefings, and book events
  • Drafting, sending, and managing recipient list for the Healthy Competition newsletter
  • Mailings and administrative tasks
  • Attending and summarizing outside policy events
  • Formatting, editing, and revising various publications
  • Assisting with other assorted tasks
  • Gathering information on Cato health policy output, quotes, events, etc. for the @CatoHealth Twitter account

Geology Intern at PVE, LLC

The Geology intern at PVE, LLC will work in the Environmental Engineering and Remediation Services group in the PVE, LLC Poughkeepsie, NY office.

Assists Project Managers and Environmental Technicians with tasks associated with:

  • Field Work – Phase I ESA procedures,taking soil, water, rock, vapor samples for analysis.
  • Site visits to assess conditions.
  • Data analysis
  • Report preparation

The ideal candidate is enrolled in a 4 year university in pursuit of a Bachelors of Science in Geology and entering their Junior or Senior year.

NOVA’s “What the Physics?!” Internship at WGBH Educational Foundation

NOVA’s “What The Physics?!” video series explores deep questions about the nature of our universe and surprising physics phenomena, with a light, comedic tone. Episodes demystify topics from consciousness to black holes to the physics of texting. Interns will have the opportunity to film, animate, edit, research, and write scripts, working closely with the show’s creator and host, Greg Kestin.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Self-motivation
  • Ability to work with others
  • Interest in science, communications, and video production
  • Experience in animation
  • Experience editing video (preferably in Premiere Pro)
  • Experience with Photoshop/Illustrator a plus

Technical Rotation Program at Kaiser Permanente

As a Technical Associate, you’ll progress through four rotations across Kaiser Permanente’s IT organization. This role will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software. In each rotation, you will be responsible for applying the latest tools and technologies to develop and assist in the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into hardware and software solutions, as well as assisting in the implementation and maintenance of these solutions, and supporting systems integration testing and user acceptance testing.
