In this post we’ll introduce you to two new members of the Middlebury College staff who are working in the Brainerd and Cook Commons.  Please join us as we welcome Nial and Nadia back to campus!

Nial Rele  was hired as the new Commons Residential Advisor for Brainerd Commons. He graduated from Middlebury in May and grew up in Bombay, India and Lagos, Nigeria.

 

 

Nadia Schreiber is the new Commons Residential Advisor for Cook Commons. Nadia also graduated from Middlebury in May. She majored in International Studies focusing on Latin America and Political Science. Nadia is really happy to be back at Middlebury this year!

In this post we’ll introduce you to two new members of the Middlebury College staff who are working in the Bookstore and LIS.  Please join us as we welcome Molly and Chris to campus!

Molly Connor was hired this summer as retail merchandiser coordinator in the Middlebury College Bookstore. Molly is a 2006 graduate of Johnson State College where she majored in sociology/anthropology. Following graduation, Molly worked as a sales associate for T.J. Maxx for five years overseeing the jewelry department, as a part-time staff member at Elderly Services in Middlebury, and as a volunteer for Neat Repeats. Molly enjoys a good read, entertaining movies, plays (especially our local talent at the Town Hall Theatre!), and day trips.

Chris Anderson graduated from Middlebury College in May of 2010 and returns to Middlebury to serve as a computing specialist II in LIS. After returning to his home state of Wisconsin, he worked for the University of Madison for two years as an IT specialist. Chris is excited to be back at Middlebury, and hopes to pursue his burgeoning hobby of writing, as well as availing himself of the library’s–for that matter, the campus’s–vast resources.

In this post we’ll introduce you to two new members of the Middlebury College staff who are both recent graduates of Middlebury and working in College Advancement. Please join us as we welcome Kris and Hilary back to campus!

Kris Williams is a recent Middlebury graduate who joined the College Advancement team as the new Assistant Director of Annual Giving in June. Kris majored in Environmental Economics and will be working on technology and marketing for the annual fund. He likes to backpack, fish, scuba dive, crunch numbers in Excel, ski, swim, and run.

 

Hilary Cunningham graduated from Middlebury in May of 2012 and participated in the 2011 Solar Decathlon. She will be putting her experience to good use as she serves as the Solar Decathlon Coordinator in College Advancement. Hilary is interested in hiking, sustainability, and board games. She also loves being a part of the Middlebury community!

In this post we’ll introduce you to two new members of the Middlebury College staff who are working in the Center for Campus Activities and Leadership and Library and Information Services. Please join us as we welcome Sophie and Jamie to campus!

Sophie Esser Calvi is thrilled to be managing the College’s Organic Farm, returning eight years after she completed an internship there herself. After graduation she ventured out into the wider world of food and wine, where she has worked for wineries and various garden, farm and food organizations. Sophie holds a Master’s Degree in Food Culture and Communications from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy and a BA in International Studies from Middlebury College. She works closely with students, faculty, staff, as well as the broader food community, on numerous food initiatives. Sophie is married to Benjamin Calvi ’03 who is a winemaker. They live on Lake Bomoseen with their son Arthur who keeps them busy and very very happy!

Jamie Carroll has returned to the staff of Middlebury after a 5.5 year hiatus, joining the LIS Helpdesk in the Davis Library as Senior Tech Specialist.  Previously he worked at the CET/NITLE office in the Old Courthouse and Marble Works. During his time away, Jamie worked at the 4×4 Center as the Driving School and Technology Manager. He lives in Hinesburg with wife Michelle and two Labrador Retrievers, Harper and Ritter. He volunteers with Essex Rescue as an EMT. Jamie ,Michelle, and the dogs work with Therapy Dogs of Vermont, visiting FAHC and local schools . They enjoy skiing year round, and when they are not skiing they also mountain bike and sail on Lake Champlain. Jamie is interested in finding people to carpool with from Hinesburg.

Elizabeth Spencer joined College Advancement as the Senior Philanthropic Advisor in April. Elizabeth has over 20 years of experience in fundraising at SeaChange Capital Partners, Dartmouth College and Yale University. She is a skier, hiker and polo player.

In this post we’ll introduce you to two new members of the Middlebury College staff who are working in College Advancement and LIS. Please join us as we welcome Betsy and Rebekah to campus!

Betsy Killorin joined College Advancement as the Leadership Gifts Associate in April. Prior to coming to the College Betsy worked for several years processing mortgages at Peoples United Bank. Betsy has a degree in Music Education as a Flute major and taught privately and in the ACSU schools. She is still active performing at local events and with the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra. A 23 year resident of Weybridge, Betsy has three children; two in college and one who attends Middlebury Union High School.  Betsy also enjoys culinary arts, reading, and obsessively following the Men’s Pro Tennis Tour.

Rebekah Irwin is a “new” member of the LIS team and serves as the Head of Collections and Digital Initiatives. Rebekah has been with the College since last August, however she has not yet been formally introduced via MiddPoints so we are catching up now. Before arriving at Middlebury last fall, she was a librarian at Yale University. Originally from Wisconsin, Rebekah feels quite at home among Addison County’s dairy farms and rolling landscape. Rebekah spends a lot of time thinking about libraries and books, as well as spending time with her husband and young daughters, bicycling, raising hens, and renovating their 1920s house.

In this post we’ll introduce you to two new members of the Middlebury College staff who are working in Dining Services and College Advancement. Please join us as we welcome Nick and Ben to campus!

Nick Williams joined Dining Services in March as a third cook in Ross. Prior to coming to the College Nick worked for five years at Wake Robin retirement community. Nick attended St. Johnsbury Academy before he worked at the Balsams Grand Hotel during his culinary apprenticeship. He is looking forward to being closer to home in his new position, and enjoys several outdoor activities including skiing and hiking.

 

Ben Wilson has joined College Advancement as the new assistant director of prospect research. Prior to coming to the College, Ben was an attorney at the Middlebury law office of Langrock, Sperry, and Wool and in Boston at the firm Foley Hoag. Ben serves on the boards of the Better Middlebury Partnership and Otter Creek Child Care Center. He lives in Weybridge with his wife, Trina, and their two children.
