Writing and Academic Mentor Session #2 Getting Started

  • All new Writing and Academic Mentors must attend.
  • All trained Peer Writing Tutors now working as Writing and Academic Mentors must attend.
  • Trained Writing and Academic Mentors must attend either this session or Session 3 on Thursday, September 26th.

Become expert at Time Management!

Mentors: Bring a syllabus from all four of your classes.

You will practice a 15 minute-version of the 30 min. tutor session

Always bring your training folder to all training sessions.

Peer Writing Tutor Session #2 Getting Started

  • All new Peer Writing Tutors must attend this session.

    Trained Peer Writing Tutors must attend either this session or Session 3 on Wednesday, September 26th.

    Trained Mentors who have never been trained as Peer Writing Tutors must attend this session.

Brainstorming answers to frequently asked tutor questions

15 minute-version of the 30 min. tutor session

Always bring your training folder to all training sessions.

Make-up sessions are only for those who have received prior approval.

Writing and Academic Mentors now attached to First-Year Seminars  must attend this session or Session 3.

We will run through a hand-on practice session and discuss tutor questions.

All new tutors must attend.  Trained FYSMs not already trained as tutors must attend.

Trained tutors attend either this session or session 3 (Thursday, February 24th).

Session 2 Getting Started Thursday, Sept. 16 4:30-6:30 PM, CTLR

It was wonderful to see so many Peer Writing Tutors and First-Year Seminar Mentors for Academics and Writing in CTLR this Thursday. We have 47 Mentors in First-Year Seminars, 15 Peer Writing Tutors in college writing and writing program classes, and thirteen Peer Writing Tutors conducting drop-in shifts in CTLR and Brainerd Commons.
This Thursday, we will see you for Session #2–Getting Started.

  • Peer Writing Tutors should bring a paper to workshop.
  • Mentors should bring a paper to workshop and all four class syllabi
  • Always bring your training folder
