Paid Digital Media Production Fellow Job on campus

Essential Functions:
The Communications and Marketing Fellowship Program is for students interested in media production and journalism that want to get hands-on experience creating content in a professional work environment. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our large audience and leave with a strong portfolio.

General Responsibilities:
Digital Media Production Fellows spend their time creating videos and other forms of digital content including podcasting and VR for entities across the institution. This content can vary from short for social media segments for Instagram to long-form in-depth storytelling on a specific class or research project being promoted in the Middlebury Newsroom or MiddleburyMagazine.com.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● A passion for storytelling through digital media
● Eager to contribute story ideas and new ways of thinking
● A strong understanding and active engagement on social media platforms
● Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
Experience:
● Experience with video editing software — preferably Adobe Premiere Pro
● Experience shooting video on smartphones, DSLR or Mirrorless cameras

Midd Alum offering an NBC News Partnerships Summer Internship opportunity

NBC News partnerships consists of a small team of veteran producers and journalists who manage the editorial relationship between NBC Network shows (TODAY, Nightly News, Meet the Press, Dateline, Original NBC Social/Digital) and our 200+ local affiliate stations across the country. Our goal is simple: amplify the reach of NBC reporting on both the national and local level. Our intern plays a crucial role in reaching this daily goal. 

Intern Purpose & Responsibilities (Job Description):

-Populate and analyze daily airings reports via Excel

-Research local stories, websites and stations nationwide

-Send daily alerts increasing local social media engagement

-Assist in producing crosstalks (live hits) and interviews

-Transcribe meetings, interviews and show content

-Meet and assist on tours with visiting affiliates

-Assist on special events and in control room

Qualifications:

Must have knowledge of current events

Previous work experience in an office/newsroom environment

Previous internship experience

Strong writing skills

Strong research skills

Social media/digital skills

Familiar with various online news websites

Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

Strong work ethic

Additional Information About the Opportunity:

Interns have the ability to attend daily production and editorial meetings. Attend Q&A sessions and meetings throughout the internship with various NBC News correspondents, producers, Senior staff, visiting correspondents etc. Have the unique opportunity to observe firsthand all the platforms of NBC through the News Partnerships team.

AEF recently held its annual Symposium as a kick-off session to ANA’s Masters of Marketing Conference. The topic of “New Marketing Realities: The Intersection of Technology and Culture” was examined by a group of industry pros and academicians. The keynote presentation was given by Neal Arthur, Wieden + Kennedy.  Master of Ceremonies, Paul Kurnit, Pace University also led a panel discussion with Carole Irgang, IBM; Husani Oakley, Deutsch; Lee-An Finlay, Acceleration, a Wunderman Thompson Company; and Kai Wright, Columbia University. Sonia Shechet Epstein ’09, specializes in the intersection of science and cinema. At the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, New York, she runs the Sloan Science & Film initiative which is comprised of a website publishing writing about film from a scientific angle, commissioning scientists on film, and producing educational materials. Also at the Museum, Sonia curates an ongoing film series that brings scientists and filmmakers together for conversation following screenings of rarely seen films.
In her presentation, Sonia will use film clips to illustrate a fascinating talk about the history of documentary science films from the invention of the moving image to the present, and will provide a critical framework to think about what makes a good science film.

Works of hand drawn animations from Studio Art courses ART 185 and ART 200 will be screened along with a concert performance by Raumshiff Engelmayer.
Raumschiff EngelMayer is a multifaceted musician who will be working along with the students finalizing their drawing animations. The resulting animations will be a part of his live concert.
