The Carol A. Moore Scholarship recognizes women currently working in higher education who are successful in their roles, who intend to engage in professional development or academic pursuits in order to further their career, and who demonstrate a commitment to supporting women’s leadership. VWHE is pleased to offer up to two $1,000 scholarships in support of this mission. Applications are due no later than November 30th.

2013 VWHE Fall Dinner

Each year, the Vermont Women in Higher Education presents three awards to outstanding women. VWHE is pleased to accept nominations through June 7, 2013 for the Sister Elizabeth Candon Award for Distinguished Service; the Jackie Gribbons Award for Leadership; and the Peggy R. Williams Emerging Professional Award.
The Sister Elizabeth Candon Distinguished Service Award is presented to a woman who has shown evidence of promoting and working toward the advancement of women in higher education and involvement at the national, regional, state, and local levels in related activities.
The Jackie Gribbons Leadership Award is presented to a woman who has demonstrated leadership ability, served as a model and mentor, developed innovative programs, and contributed significantly to the institution and profession.
The Peggy R. Williams Emerging Professional Award is presented to a woman who is in the early stages of her career, demonstrates excellence in her contributions to students, colleagues, and/or her institution (in such areas as service, innovative programs, teaching, research, etc.), and shows promise and potential for future contributions.

The 2013 Women’s Leadership Conference from Vermont Women in Higher Education, with the theme “Pearls of Wisdom,” is March 21 and 22 at Killington Grand Resort. There will be professional workshops, wellness workshops, a leadership panel and more, all in a beautiful setting.
VWHE is very excited to announce this year’s keynote speaker:
Madeleine Kunin, first female governor of Vermont
She is the author of Pearls, Politics and Power: How Women Can Win and Lead and her newest book is titled The New Feminist Agenda: Defining the Next Revolution for Women, Work and Family.
There will also be a great pre-conference speaker March 21: Jane Weintraub, who will be giving a talk titled “Everyday Practices for Putting Wisdom to Work.”
