New: Online Classified Ads!

Categories: Midd Blogosphere

Over the months that MiddPoints changed from its printed version to its current online version, Staff Council and members of the administration heard repeatedly from staff members that the classified advertising was one of the most missed parts of the printed MiddPoints. In collaboration with Human Resources and Communications, Staff Council is pleased to announce that online classified advertising is now available to the Middlebury College community – staff, faculty, and students – at http://sites.middlebury.edu/classifieds

The Web Services group of LIS has designed an online classifieds function using the WordPress platform. You will need to log in with the username and password you use for e-mail to view the classifieds or to post an ad – just go to http://sites.middlebury.edu/classifieds or find it easily at http://portal.middlebury.edu

These are the categories in which ads can be posted:

  • Books
  • Borrow
  • Computers & Electronics
  • Courses and Training
  • Event Tickets
  • Everything Else
  • Furniture
  • Lost & Found
  • New
  • Care Provider
  • Real Estate & Housing
  • Sporting Goods
  • Transportation
  • Wanted

A posted ad will be automatically removed after 30 days. We ask that if your ad is successful before 30 days, you remove the ad yourself. As with all online services provided by Middlebury College, the classified advertising site is governed by the policies stated in the employee and student handbooks.

Staff Council ‘Learning Lunch’ on Judaism July 27

Categories: Midd Blogosphere

Starting about a year ago, Staff Council followed up on the recommendations of some staff members that Staff Council help employees further develop current interests or stimulate new ones by providing opportunities to benefit from the stellar learning resources available on campus and nearby. One of the ideas proposed was to have a series of talks that would each focus on a different religion.

Staff Council is very pleased that Rabbi Ira Schiffer has agreed to help us kick off this ongoing series by presenting an overview of Judaism.

Please BRING YOUR LUNCH, and join us at noon on July 27th in Warner Hemicycle.

Orientation to the (Expanded) Davis Family Library for Staff and Faculty

Categories: Midd Blogosphere

Staff Council’s Learning Lunch on June 22 will be an introduction (or re-introduction) to the Davis Family Library for staff and faculty.

Those of us who work in the Library have been surprised to learn that many staff members are not aware that they can use the Library’s resources just as students and faculty can. We are offering this Learning Lunch not only to help make staff aware of some of these resources, but also showcase what’s new in the Davis Family Library now that the contents of the former Music Library are here. There is also a new search method (“Summon”) for finding answers to your research needs, and more!

Please join us as Brenda Ellis shows us what’s new (and not so new) about the Davis Family Library and its resources!

Wednesday, June 22, noon-1 p.m.
Room 145, Davis Family Library
