New acquisitions lists in MIDCAT

I miss the old way that MIDCAT organized the ‘new acquisitions’ lists by the month. The new format, with the covers of the various library acquisitions, looks nice but it’s not very useful for browsing. I think it would be very handy to be able to sort the list by acquisition type — e.g, book, DVD, music CD, score, map, etc.

Contact HelpDesk via website

Link for emailing the Helpdesk DIRECTLY from the web, without having to use email. This is because a recurring problem (that is taking exceedngly too long to fix) is occuring. A number of people can’t log into their webmail middlebury address so they have no concrete way fo contacting the helpdesk from the coputers. And therefore they have no way to immediately communicate the continuation of the problem to support. When we call, we are asked “are you at a computer now?” Therefore, it seems a necessity to have a direct communication other than webmail to the helpdesk.

Link to course descriptions from course schedule page

it would be nice if you could get to the course descriptions straight from the course schedule page. At the moment, when you click the CRN of a course on the page it takes you to a BannerWeb page labeled “Class Schedule Listing.” Could the course descriptions that are on the various academic department pages be linked or pasted into this BannerWeb page?

Make ‘go’ links easier to find

  • When possible, add a note with the appropriate go/ short-cut to the headers of pages with go/ links, so folks will know how to get there again.
  • Create an easy to find reverse gotionary–and, possibly category directory–of go/links, with all the items that currently have go/links. Sometimes it’s difficult to figure out what the go/ link could be.
