The Main Library displays and features books that are written by faculty in an area separate from the regular collection.
Would it be possible to have a web presence featuring jacket images and bib info of the faculty authors collection on the main LIS web page?

Very good suggestions; maintenance of the faculty authors collection has been on our minds for a while. Let’s see:

Is there a way to see what materials the library holds that are published by Middlebury faculty? – Currently, the best way to see what faculty publications we own is to browse the Faculty Authors Collection near the Circulation Desk at the Main Library. In the near future, we’ll investigate adding a note to Midcat so that you can find all works by Middlebury authors.

How do we make sure that we systematically buy all books published by Middlebury faculty? – We already make an effort to buy all books by Middlebury authors, but some works might slip through the cracks. We’ll work on this.

Regarding a web presence featuring jacket images and bib info of the faculty authors collection – Great idea! A web “collection” would allow us to publicize article publications, too. Others on campus are interested in such a project. We’ll work on it!

Your question has prompted us to review our procedures and, lo and behold, for a long time our acquisitions staff has routinely combed though each new list of faculty publications compiled by the Dean of Faculty. Please do submit a request if you notice that we’ve missed anything.
