Learning Management System Pilot Information Sessions

The Curricular Technology team is currently evaluating learning management systems (LMS) for use at Middlebury. To this end the team will work with the Web Application Group to make a number of these platforms available for faculty to pilot over the winter and spring semesters. For more information about these LMS pilots and how to participant, we encourage faculty and staff to come to one of our LMS pilot information sessions:

PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR ANNUAL SPECIAL COLLECTIONS OPEN HOUSE, August 31-September 2, 2010, 9 am-5 pm

On view in Special Collections, Davis Family Library, Lower Level

Faculty and Staff are welcome fo review our most recent acquisition of primary source materials incuding rare books and first editions, historic periodicals, manuscript collections, journals, diaries, antique maps, ephemera, etc.

Everything from the Illustrated London News to American travel letters to Victorian hair jewelry to NY Poet Frank O’Hara.

Special Collections materials are selected for their relevance to courses taught across the curriculum as well as for faculty research.

Suggestions for future acquisitions are welcome.
Tours of the closed stacks available upon request.

Microsoft Office 2007 Upgrade now available!

Microsoft Office 2007 Upgrade is now available to all faculty, staff and students on campus. This online upgrade is easy to complete and should not take more than 5-10 minutes of your time. The upgrade can be found at MIDDFILES\Software\Office2007. Double-click the Office2007_upgrade file that is inside the folder. This will start an automated upgrade of your current Microsoft Office Suite. This file will upgrade Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook to the 2007 version.

It is recommended that you first prepare for the new Microsoft Office 2007 user interface by visiting the Technology Helpdesk website as a resource to learn more about this upgraded Office version. NOTE: If you currently have Microsoft Office Access 2003 you should not run this upgrade. Please contact the Helpdesk for upgrade assistance.

VCAL – Vermont Consortium of Academic Libraries

Middlebury now participates in the VCAL reciprocal borrowing program. This program allows faculty from Middlebury to walk-in to participating libraries in the state and borrow materials from them as if they were full guest borrowers of that library.
*Faculty need to fill out a form and get a VCAL card from Main Circ
*Faculty are expected to return borrowed items to the owning library
*Faculty are expected to abide by the owning library’s guest circulation policies
