Sen. Judd Gregg withdrew his nomination as President Barack Obama's commerce secretary Thursday, citing "irresolvable conflicts" over the administration's stimulus bill and the upcoming 2010 census. The GOP took the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, but was ultimately unsuccessful. Some GOP members of Congress accuse Democrats and the Obama administration of trying to skew the 2010 census, the results of which will be used to apportion legislative seats and distribute federal money.

Gibbs said last week the Obama administration would ensure "a timely and accurate count" in 2010. That came in response to concerns by the Congressional Black Caucus and the National Association of Latino Elected Officials that Gregg would not properly support the 2010 count.

This is our country. Please, make sure we keep a balance of checks and balances.
