Welcome to my web presence. I am a Professor of Political Science and Environmental Studies at Middlebury College. I have taught courses here on U.S. conservation and environmental policy and American politics since 1990 and have served as the director of the Environmental Studies Program for eight years. I am the author or editor of five books on conservation and environmental policy, most recently co-author, with Stephen Trombulak, of The Story of Vermont: A Natural and Cultural History, 2d edition (UPNE Press, 2015), and with co-author David Sousa, of American Environmental Policy: Beyond Gridlock, updated and expanded edition (MIT Press, 2013). I also serve on the board of the local conservation groups Vermont Family Forests. I live in Middlebury and have two daughters, Isabel and Faye.
