p. 16

The page continues about the scene at tavern. There is a curly-haired man with a very long orange beard and is carrying a claw hammer. S explores the room and wonders if this is what is leading him to his mystery. He feels the coin he handed to be foreign but again, remembers that he has lost his memory. The page also talks about a young woman who is reading a large book. Straka describes the women and the environment in a very vivid and eloquent manner. FXC has a footnote that she suspects every critic of the book would have their own guesses about what this character represents and all of them are will be equally non credible.

In the marginalia, Eric and Jen simply mention about the reading habit of Eric and Jen wanting to talk to him, where the part TALK TO YOU is underlined and emphasized. They also talk about FXC’s footnote about the credibility of interpretations of critics of the book. Jen presents a thought that FXC might know what they don’t and Eric thinks FXC is deliberately doing so to pursuade her as someone who knows more than other normal critics. So, Jen tries to infer that this footnote could be a way for the FXC to communicate to others the intimate relationship between Straka and FXC.
