Egypt is a complex and beautiful country in the midst of great turmoil. This case study is designed as part of my Comparative International Education course at MIIS, but Egypt has long been the center of my research. As part of my study abroad program located in Alexandria, I was immersed into the culture and lifestyle of the local community. I witnessed a wealth of beauty amidst sobering realities.
Social, cultural, and economic inequities were abundant and underlying these problems was the stark reality that education was virtually inaccessible. The result of these discoveries has led me to pursue the topic, in hopes that I may eventually find a solution to at least one problem within Egypt’s education sector.
The pages headed under this parent-page provide in depth detail about the education system in Egypt, as well as addressing issues of access and equity.
