Originally from California, I now live in Washington, D.C., working as an Educational Affairs Intern within the Cultural Services Department at the French Embassy, June to December 2016. While at the Embassy, I will be developing the Embassy’s first federal newsletter for K-12 French education and creating social media platforms tailored to K-12 bilingual French educators in the United States.
My interest in international education began during high school, when I was fortunate to study French in Paris, France. From that point on, study abroad and French language became necessary aspects of my education and interests. I received a Bachelors degree in International Area Studies and French from Saint Mary’s College of California and while there, enhanced my undergraduate education by studying in France and Italy.
Upon my return to the United States, I worked in the Center for International Programs at Saint Mary’s College, learning more about international education, advising students, organizing intercultural events between American and international students, and leading the college’s first peer mentor program to serve both re-entry and prospective study abroad students. I went on to work for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a Campaign Assistant and Recruiter. There, I learned about the inner workings of a charitable non-profit organization and the daily communication that is necessary to be successful. Later, my desire for continued immersive and cultural experiences led me to work as an English Language Teaching Assistant at Lycée Maurice Genevoix in Marignane, France with the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF).
As a candidate for a Master of Arts degree in International Education Management graduating in December 2016, I am actively seeking a career working in Education Abroad and International Student and Scholar Services.
