Watson Fellowship is a one year grant for independent study and travel outside the United States awarded to seniors and senior Febs. The fellowship provides a $25,000 grant to college graduates a year of independent, purposeful exploration and travel – in international settings new to them – to enhance their capacity for resourcefulness, imagination, openness, and leadership and to foster their humane and effective participation in the world community.

Atlantic meets the pacific: maritime peoples and places!
Peace boat Voyage (scheduled from June 11-24, 2013) offers an opportunity for student from MIIS and Middlebury to engage in comparative education. This faculty-lead voyage will include visits to the coastal ports in Venezuela, the Panama Canal, Panama, Guatemala, and Mexico.
During the voyage, the course would offer a set of seminars and presentations that would be designed to help students deepen their understanding of specific features of life and culture in the countries we visit. At each port, students would be involved in field work that includes aspects of art, music, religion, politics, environment, health, or other specific aspect of the ports .

The Punta Mona Center for Sustainable Living and Education is one of the most extensive organic permaculture farms in Costa Rica. Located on the Southern Caribbean coast, the center have 85 beachfront acres of primary, secondary and established food forests.
In a Permaculture Design Course and Sustainable Living Internship you gain practical field skills in sustainable design, energy systems (solar and water collection), land use and holistic food practices. You will come out with a clear understanding of the principals and philosophy of permaculture and how it can be applied in urban, suburban and rural settings. In this course the Punta Mona Center discuss triple bottom line business, ecological ethics and policy, community and personal development.
Sign up for the 3 week permaculture design course June 9- 29th (which at the end you will receive a Permaculture Design Certificate) and you can then stay on for the full 8 week internship which ends on August 8, living and working here in Punta Mona. The next opportunity like this will be January 2014 (PDC January 6-26, Internship January 27 – March 23, 2014)

Multicultural May Event: Vergennes Elementary School
School Counselor Katie Cormier is looking for Middlebury College students to come speak with her students or do an activity about the importance of diversity for 40 minutes as part of the annual Multicultural May Celebration. Students are available during the following days/times: May 6, 7, 8 or 9 from 9:00-9:40 (1st and 2nd graders) OR 10:30-11:15 (3rd and 4th graders) OR 1:25-2:05 (5th and 6th graders). Green Mountain Digital is the mobile apps market leader in nature and wildlife. It design and publish authoritative and comprehensive mobile applications that engage users with all aspects of the natural world.
Founded in 2009 in Woodstock, Vermont, it has designed and published more 65 mobile apps across multiple platforms, including Audubon Birds of North America, Orvis Fly Fishing: The Ultimate Guide, GardenMinder, Sailing World: Knots and Splices, and NatureTap.
Now Green Mountain Digital will launch the app in May and is aimed at the outdoor market. This a full-time, salaried position starting June 1 (or earlier if convenient), and will be based in Woodstock, VT (though frequent travel may be expected).
The ideal candidate for this position will lead the entire Partner Program across North America, including but not limited to recruitment of new partners, facilitating the on-boarding process, and serving as the “relationship manager” to address partner issues and opportunities.

Manna Project International (MPI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that utilizes the passions and energy of young people to empower developing international communities through hands-on learning and service. MPI strives to foster communities of young adults and encourages them to use their passions and education in service to communities in need.
For the second year, LtN is partnering with Manna Project International (MPI) to recruit a new program director (PD) for July, 2013. This is a 13-month position, although there is some flexibility depending on applicant availability.
Program Directors utilize their education, passions, and interests to develop and sustain existing projects and to establish new projects. Manna Project International’s model is designed to create impactful, on-the-ground results, while equipping volunteers with the leadership development and professional skills they need to continue their work in a range of career paths after their service with MPI.

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources’ mission is to preserve, enhance, restore, and conserve Vermont’s natural resources, and protect human health for the benefit of this and future generations.
Responsibilities of this internship includes : recruit volunteers, participate in and provide volunteer training, organize and distribute program supplies, maintain and update volunteer contact information and laboratory data, perform water quality sample collection, transport samples to testing laboratories when needed, perform data entry and data management tasks and provide other ongoing program support. May create and present public outreach programs on water quality issues if time allows.
Expected time commitment: 15 – 25 hrs/week. Stipend offered by watershed associations and mileage reimbursement
