1. Business Administration Internship at Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) in Richmond, VT

This hands-on experience allows interns to take part in all aspects of non-profit, year-round conservation and education, as VYCC seeks to teach individuals to take personal responsibility for their actions. This intern would assist in the organization’s mission of providing conservation, agriculture, and disaster relief projects throughout Vermont. 2. Campus Sustainability Assessment Intern at the University of Chile in Santiago

The University of Chile faculty has been working on a transversal sustainability initiative over the last 2 years that includes changes to the curriculum, promoting service learning and public workshops, and establishing a recycling program. This intern will propose and apply a methodology for comprehensive sustainability assessment, using the STARS system (https://stars.aashe.org/) and adapting it to the University. 3. Apprentice at D Acres of New Hampshire in Dorchester, NH

D Acres of New Hampshire is an innovative, non-profit organic permaculture farm & educational homestead located on 180 acres of forest, perennial, and annual gardens in the rural foothills of the White Mountains, and its mission is to improve the human relationship with the New England landscape by researching, teaching, and applying skills of sustainability, subsistence living, and small scale agriculture. 4. Paid Chinese Program Consultant at ECOLOGIA in Middlebury, VT and China

ECOLOGIA, a Vermont-based environmental NGO, is seeking a summer intern for its China Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. Working closely and travelling with staff, the intern will implement ISO 26000 with Chinese businesses, network with businesses and institutions interested in its work. The intern will expand ECOLOGIA’s network related to CSR by seeking out new contacts and reconnecting ECOLOGIA’s old contacts. This will involve research and social networking on the Internet, finding people through his/her existing network. Paid Market Development Internship at Green Mountain Flour in Windsor, VT

Green Mountain Flour seeks to secure more wholesale accounts, to more effectively get its story out to consumers, and to find and focus on the more profitable aspects of working with local grains. As an intern, you will follow the process from sourcing grains to milling/baking and then arriving at farmer’s markets where they make pizza to order in our mobile pizza oven as well as sell flour, artisianal breads and homemade sodas. You will have access to the internal workings of the company to seek out revenue generating avenues, and exploring partnerships with other organizations and businesses. Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit environmental education center, 1,400-acre working farm, and National Historic Landmark. Our mission is to cultivate a conservation ethic for a sustainable future.
The Food Systems Internship will provide hands-on opportunities to experience diverse aspects of food production and food system education from farm to table.
The intern will participate in the breadth of Farm to School education activities including the Summer Institute with Vermont FEED (Food Education Every Day), a National Farm to Cafeteria conference in Burlington, as well as a diversity of summer youth programs.
The intern will also help with research related to food system planning and development. Additional activities also include hands-on experience in organic gardening, dairy operations, cheese making and farm-based education programs.

The Orton Family Foundation is offering one funded internship to a student interested in community planning, civic engagement and community development. The intern will work closely with Foundation staff to assist in research, writing and other activities in support of core program functions. The intern can be based in either the Foundation’s Middlebury, VT or Denver, CO office. Responsibilities may include: assisting with the development of the Heart & Soul Community Planning training program, supporting field staff in their work with the Foundation’s partner communities, researching and developing content for the Planning Tools Exchange, an online database of planning tools, and more!

As assistant to the Program Director, you will work as a representative of Reclaim Childhood (RC) in Jordan, helping to organize and run open houses for beneficiary outreach, oversee logistics for other RC summer volunteers, and work on program design and implementation of the summer program. Vermont Campus Compact is offering Vermont college and university students the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways to Vermont recovery with six-week paid internships this summer from June 11 – July 27. Interns will work 30 hours per week and will be compensated $9.50/hour. Interns will need reliable transportation, and in most cases will need to secure their own housing; some assistance in finding housing may be available.

The American Red Cross of Vermont and New Hampshire Valley seeks a VCC intern to work on a new and exciting initiative to build community sheltering capacity throughout Vermont. The impact of Tropical Storm Irene demonstrated a need to ensure that every community has the training and capacity to provide temporary, emergency shelter during times of disaster. The Vermont and New Hampshire Valley American Red Cross is undertaking an initiative to bring the training and basic supplies to every Vermont community that elects to participate. Join us and be a part of both the planning and implementation phases of this vital program. Candidates will report directly to the Chief Response Officer, with the opportunity to draw upon his 30 years of experience in disaster preparedness and response. A valid driver’s license is a must. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher (or similar programs). Solid interpersonal skills are a must.
