The Teaching Perspectives Inventory (TPI) is a tool that helps faculty answer the question, what does it mean to teach? The TPI views teaching as falling into 5 perspectives: transmission (effective delivery of content), apprenticeship (modeling ways of being); developmental (cultivating ways of thinking); nurturing (facilitating self-efficacy); and social reform (seeking a better society).
The TPI is a reflective, online tool with which faculty can analyze their beliefs, intentions and actions toward teaching. The TPI then provides a profile of your teaching perspectives. Participants will complete the online inventory prior to the session. During the session we will share and discuss our results. If you are planning on attending, please visit this page with instructions on taking the TPI. If you have any problems please contact Shel Sax.
Lunch will be served at each event in the Center for Teaching, Learning & Research 12:15 – 1 pm. Please RSVP below at least two days in advance of the event. Thank you.
