Our Goal

Our goal in the Conservation Psychology Lab at Middlebury College is to understand the antecedents of pro-environmental behaviors.  Recently we have been investigating how The Self-Determination Theory, framing, social norm feedback and economic principles can be applied to promote environmentally sustainable behaviors on campus.  In addition to conducting studies on these topics, we work closely with the Sustainability Solutions Lab to apply psychological research to encourage local conservation.

Interested in the Conservation Psychology Major or Joining Our Team?

We invite Middlebury College students interested in investigating the psychological underpinnings of pro-environmental decisions and behaviors to join our team.  If you would like to learn more about the lab please contact Michelle McCauley at mccauley@middlebury.edu .
