Thermo Fisher IRIS DUO 1000 ICAP

My main area of research deals with understanding volcanism in the northern Appalachians through geochemistry, using instruments such as the Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma Spectrometer pictured above. I also am working on the origin of Devonian granites in northeastern Vermont, and peridotites from throughout the Appalachians. In addition, I have investigated the genesis of Early Tertiary volcanic rocks in the Coast Belt of British Columbia, in collaboration with Murray Journeay at the Geological Survey of Canada. Much of my research at Middlebury is done with undergraduates.
