New Stats to Click and Gate Count

Please note that we have a new stats system. The link can be found in the upper right corner of the Circ blog and will soon be available on all front desk computers.
Circ desks will be responsible for recording gate counts.
Supervisors – please ensure that gate counts are entered in the new stats system.
Student employees – please take the gate count when you arrive for your shift and record it on the new Zoho stats form at the beginning of every shift.
Please also note that there is a new spot to click on any incidents of the alarm going off.
Many thanks!
Elin 🙂

Main Circ Gate Alarms

I need your help!
In the past 2 weeks there have been 116 gate alarms.
5 have been recorded on the Alarm Log.
We are currently experiencing a unusually high number of false and incoming alarms.
Please respond to and document all outgoing alarm incidents.
No need to stop people for incoming alarms.
Any ideas for an easier way to track alarms is most welcome! Let me know if you have any suggestions.
A service call is very expensive, and we need to document alarm incidents to better analyze the problem.
Many thanks!
Elin

Gate Alarms

Please respond to all gate alarms that go off when a person is exiting the library.

Say:
“Sorry for the trouble, could you please pause while we figure out what is setting off the alarm?”
If it is not immediately apparent what caused the alarm, please use process of elimination to figure out the problem.
(Not much fun – but it gets easier with practice!)

Common problems:
Book did not get de-sensitized properly at check-out
DVD from a local video store
Used books – personal copies
Various electronic items

Not so common a problem (thankfully!):
Library materials – attempted theft of books, DVD’s and magazines

Refer any problems to a supervisor.

Main Library – please record all gate alarms – even false ones – on the log sheet.
