Stairwell Crashbar Alarm Key

keys
FYI
The key for the stairwell crashbar alarm is kept at Main Circ. If the stairwell alarm goes off, please use this key to disarm/arm the “crash bar” alarm on the emergency exit door. The keys do not actually lock the door, they simply arm and disarm the alarm.
If the alarms are going off and a key can’t be found, call Public Safety – any Public Safety officer can silence the alarm.

Main Library Viewing Stations

headphoneSince start of this semester up to today, the following missing/broken items have been documented at the 22 Main Library viewing stations:
5 remotes batteries taken
1 remote missing
6 headphones missing
4 headphones broken
2 headphone amps missing
In oder to minimize loss/damage issues – here is a test set-up for headphones.
The 1st 8 stations (nearest the front of the library) now have the headphones directly connected to the monitor – these will only support 1 set of headphones
The monitor has been labeled to show where volume control is so they can be adjusted as needed.
Please note any feedback regarding this new set-up. This set-up may be extended to another 8 stations if there are no problems noted.

Promotion of “for profit” products

An FYI from Joseph:
A student recently set up a display on the counter of the Info Desk to promote an energy boosting drink that he sells.  This is an inappropriate use of MC facilities and also implies an endorsement of the product. We don’t promote “for profit” efforts at the Info Desk or anywhere else.  If anyone asks you if they can display something related to on-campus official College business (an office, a student group, a non-for-profit that students are supporting) and if they are simply putting up a poster on an existing bulletin board or adding something to the brochure rack at the Info Desk, you may consent.   But if it is not directly related to MC, or if they want to do something like put up a large poster on an easel, please refer them to me or Doreen.

Thanks,
Joseph

Lost and Found

water bottle
We are no longer saving wandering or abandoned food and drink containers in the lost and found shelves/boxes at the Circ desks.
Please use designated box at each Circ point for re-use mugs, thermos mugs, water bottles and containers and send them to building recycling areas frequently.

Book Sale Starts Tomorrow – July 7th

From Joseph:

BOOK SALE INFO for Summer 2009-

The regular sale will start promptly at 9:00am on Tuesday July 7th and continue during regular open hours until the morning of the 13th. (Items become free on Friday so the real “sale” ends then.)

The books will be in the Atrium on a large gray cart. It’s mostly Japanese with a few Chinese items mixed in. These are surplus items from a recent gift to the library. All proceeds from the sale will be added to the library’s materials replacement fund.

Items may be purchased at the Circulation Desk with cash or checks made out to Middlebury College.

Do not agree to let people “save” things behind the Circ. Desk to purchase later. Items must be purchased and taken away, or left on the carts for someone else to buy.

Full price will be charged for everything on Tues. and Wed. The prices will be cut in half (paperbacks two for the price of one) on Thurs. and everything becomes free on Fri. and throughout the weekend.

Questions can be directed to Joseph in the Preservation & Processing. X5487.
Thanks!
