Reminder about pink ILLs

When a pink-banded ILL is returned, please check it in and place it back on the hold shelf. Circ staff will clear these when the due date has passed. These items are in-library use only, so patrons cannot take them out of the library, but need to have repeated access to these items. So please leave them on the hold shelf (after checking them in). Any questions?

Reminder about reserves

All items that need to be placed on reserve — whether they are library-owned items or personal copies — need to be placed on the Reserves processing shelf with an orange reserve slip so Kellam can process them. Even if a personal copy has been on reserve in a previous semester, it still needs to be processed for reserves for the current semester. To recap: whenever a professor comes to the Circ Desk with an item that needs to circulate for his or her students, it needs to go on reserve. Please don’t hesitate to ask a supervisor if you have any questions! Thanks.

Reserve photocopies in reprint file

We have our first addition to the reserve reprint file (a.k.a. that file drawer next to the Circ printer). The call number is “Reprint file (Sample papers)” and it’s a folder with sample papers for Prof. Rochford’s course. It’s the only item in the reprint file so it should be easy to find! The items had previously been available on ERes but they’re now only available as photocopies to be borrowed for a two-hour loan. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Penalty Points are on

Starting today, penalty points will be active for reserves, equipment, and ILL books. Please check things in as soon as they come across the desk. Items found on the reserves shelf after they were due should be back-dated at check-in. Same with items in the bookdrops or left on the counter from the night before. And remind people when their items are due!

New Media Equipment to Circ this Fall

We will be adding several new items to our to our media equipment inventory this fall.

The goal is to standardize most of our cameras and camcorders for our patrons, and to ease the support aspect.

7 additional Canon ELPH 150 digital still cameras (upgrade from the 110 model)
10 (approximately) Vixia hand held camcorders, which will replace the older FS11 line we currently use. (We are keeping our FS 200 models).
We will stay within the XA10 line for the high end camcorder. We have two.

We will receive one palm sized LCD projector. This is a new technology so we will monitor its checkout frequency and performance feedback.
We were unable to add more LCD projectors so we will loan out what we have (8 students, and 5 fac/staff).

One more digital Rebel T3i will be added (yay)!
Tripods
Mac chargers
Headsets
(checking on i-Phone chargers)

No iPads or Kindles. These have tapered off in borrowing. We have 10 to circulate which will be fine.

More news will be coming (via the blog) regarding PC laptop re-imaging procedures.
