Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics:
• Total circs, 2011 vs. 2012: 212,423 vs. 192,177
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• Activity picking up a bit
• Lots of early morning printing
• Started Thursday am shift at Breadloaf
• Bi-weekly supervisor meetings
• Monthly search lists
Davis Family:
• Summer has started – much busier
• A number of staff attended the “Hello, Overdrive” session
• Lots of printing questions
• Sending people to bookstore to buy adapters and small equipment (we should be getting commission!)
• Students are amazing
• Lots of new equipment to add to the collection!
• Monthly circ meeting with special guests Mike Roy and Joseph Watson
• Work on area and workgroup goals
• HEAT replacement demos scheduled, invites will go out today
Stacks:
• Cleaning up shelf label files, relabeled some shelves
• Shifted and cleaned HM-L section of REF
• Shelving increasing
Reserves:
• Lots of LS reserves and ERes coming in
• Created small book display at Davison for summer guest speakers

Challenges:
• Everything at Davison: walk-up computer, phones, EZ Proxy, Banner, Moodle
• Network outage Sunday morning
• Power outage Monday
• Film screening issues (people not following procedures)
* Found a BUNCH of DVD cases unlocked in the stacks

2 reminders!

1. If you are searching for an item from a hold slip and you can’t find said item, please go into the patron record, go to the holds tab, and cancel the hold, choosing the “cancel hold and change status to missing” option. This is important because it a) informs the patron that our copy is missing and b) lets them request it via NExpress or ILL.

2. Before DVDs go back to the shelves, please make sure their cases are locked!

DVD’s getting re-labelled

Small batches of DVDs will be getting re-labelled in the coming weeks. P&P will be putting a sign up on the shelf saying that the DVDs in this section are being re-labelled, but if someone needs one, they should come to the circ desk. If someone asks for one of these, please have a supervisor go down to P&P to track it down.
