User Services Weekly Report

Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics:
• Average gestation period of an African elephant: 22 months
• Number of bound theses returned to departments: 122
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• Busy now for the summer, especially at night
• Lots of printing
• 161 lab in use every morning for class
• Working on next BNB shipment
• Pulling and recycling of bound indexes continues
• Shelf reading
Davis Family:
• Web Help Desk demo
• One student on vacation, back today
• Lots of print, copy and equipment questions at the desk
• New signage looks great
• Good student employees
• Lots of new equipment – much appreciated!
• Bi-weekly one on one meetings seem to be going well (at least from Dan’s point of view!)
Stacks:
• Returns keeping us busy
• Small projects here and there
Reserves:
• Still adding stuff as it comes in
• Starting to think about BLWC schedule
• Doing some Eres for Alumni College

Challenges:
• Walk-up computer at Davison
• Getting Special Collection book transferred to Davison for the summer
• Odd confusion with BL bins, items returned at wrong locations, sent to wrong locations
• French faculty needed a film for screening that we don’t own (borrowed from Ilsley, but we don’t want to get into that practice)
• Uppity patrons
• Books destroyed by the sprinkler incident in Stewart
• No support on weekends for problems in 240A viewing room
• Payroll issues (Banner down in evenings, some students and one staff didn’t enter time)
• Still entering people into Millennium who are not in Banner for whatever reason – this will need to be looked at closely at the end of LS.
