Monthly Archives: December 2011

Looking for a librarian?

We don’t have “Librarian on Duty” hours this week or the first week of January. But we’re still around! The go/askus page tells you how to find us:

  • During regular hours, the best thing to do is to call x5496. That number rings in all librarian offices, and one of us should be available to help on the phone or in person.
  • At any hour, you also can use to the go/askalibrarian form, which sends an email to all librarians.
  • We’re out Friday December 23-Monday January 2.  We might be able to respond to messages during that period, but our response time probably will be longer than usual.

Please encourage all researchers to use the phone and form, too!

Library Reserve personal copies

Personal copies of books and media that were on reserve for Fall Term are now ready to be picked up by faculty (or by someone on the faculty member’s behalf). The items are on carts in my work area and listed in alphabetic order by faculty last name. Please simply hand the items over to the faculty member — no need to check out, desensitize, etc. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks, Kellam

Facebook page is now live!

The Middlebury College Library Circulation Desk Facebook page is now live! If you want to get your updates via Facebook instead of checking the circ blog, just like the page.

Supervisors – if you have something you want to communicate to the students via Facebook, just select the “Copy to Facebook” category on your post (along with the two student options as well).

Student Worker Reminder: Media Equipment Returns

This is a brief reminder to everyone to be sure that the borrowing time periods are followed when checking out various equipment items.  No extensions are allowed without permission from a supervisor. Most popular items are one-day loan periods.
Quick review:
digital cameras (still): 1 day ONLY
camcorders (flash and mini-dv): 1 day ONLY
microphones: 1 day ONLY
LCD projectors: 1 day ONLY – *pay special attention since we do not have many in stock for this high demand item
digital voice recorders:  7 days
calculators – 4 hours

Since we are at the end of the semester, we are turning around these items quickly (daily) so we need to get them back to the desk by their due date. Others are in line for booking.  Many students have blocked accounts due to late equipment returns; you will need to get a supervisor to speak with those students when they come to the desk.  This is a very busy time and we thank you for all of your hard work!  Let us know if you have any questions.
