User Services Weekly Report

Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics: 355 emails pertaining to Fall Reserves processed
Also, new septic tanks are expensive
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• Quiet over there
• Working on training videos, trying to figure out a way to get Flash videos to embed in the wiki
• Maps project 95% complete
Music:
• Quiet over there, too
• Fall schedule almost done – 6 hours unclaimed, all with returning students
• Computer still unusable, waiting on virtual desktop machine
Davis Family:
• Consolidated Music, Armstrong, Davis, and Stacks circ positions into one job description
• Changed loan rules to reflect immediate billed status for reserves, equipment, etc. and allow renewals on other overdue items. It works!
• Added forms subpage to the Borrowing page in Drupal
• 3- and 6-month reviews – almost done
• Swapping out old student Macs with new ones
• Cleared lost and found
• All LIS staff meeting – thinking about the not-to-do-list
• Staff vacations, reduced hours, everyone taking a breather before the impending onslaught of doom
Stacks:
• Shift of media collection complete
• Reshelving complete
• Currently shelf-reading
• Struggling to keep students busy
Reserves:
• Fall reserves
• Fall reserves
• Fall reserves
• Students pulling reserves lists from the stacks
• Fall reserves
CT Team: further crafting of final recommendations.
Space Team: did not meet

Challenges:
• Outer doors acting up again
• Young ruffians and ragamuffins climbing in stacks barefoot, dropping things from the third floor
• Student employees are too damn efficient
• Staff computer issues
