Meeting minutes 7/28/2010

Present: Shawn, Kim, Nancy, Janine, Rachel, Todd, Morgan, Dan, and 17,320 calories worth of baked goods.

‘Round the table:
– symposium at Bi-Hall Thursday – expecting lots of traffic.
– would be helpful to have 2 students on the first Saturday of each new session of LS.
– Might be good to change Davison Breadloaf to Breadloaf Davison to avoid confusion over name similarity with Davis Family
– circ students love Janine because she brings treats
– NExpress and ILL pickup now available at Armstrong: ILL items coming in the bin TO Armstrong should NOT be checked in – just put them on the holdshelf. NExpress returns should just go in the bin.
– seems to be a lot of book-hoarding going on this summer in carrels and lockers
– the ILL students are awesome
– “Printing is a cloud of mystery”
– the Helpdesk may have a handheld device that circ could use in the stacks so we would not have to purchase a $5,000 Circa device
– Student budget will remain the same as the past year
– Travel/Professional development budget will also remain the same – please go to things. There is a free circ conference in Boston in October.
– Carrel keys are bookable online
– brief discussion about allowing patrons to renew overdue materials. Further discussion will ensue.

  1. Great first meeting. Will try to keep down the calorie intake for future sessions. Looking forward to the conference at UMass in Boston.
