I need your help with equipment!

This is a reminder to please — I beg of you — check that all pieces of equipment are returned in a case before checking the item in. Recently we’ve had a rash of missing adapters, cables, and tripod quips, and missing pieces can result in replacement costs of hundreds of dollars. The pop-up message at check out-and check-in is there to guide you through everything you need to look for. Please ask a supervisor if you’re not sure how to identify something, or if a piece is missing. We’re here to help!

  1. About the internet cables: are we still loaning them out or do they all still happen to be missing?

  2. Hi Reid and Emily, thanks for the question. Yes, the Yellow Cable Program is going the way of the dinosaur, unfortunately. Stay tuned for an update on ethernet cables on the blog sometime soon. Please know that you can always refer ethernet cable requests to the Bookstore, where they sell three different lengths (the pricing starts at $4.99).

    Thanks, Kellam

  3. I think that’s a bummer about the cables. There’s no way to put a magnetic piece on them? Or, what if we had cables that were very very short, or overly long? Might that deter students from carrying them out?

  4. Hi Reid. Thanks for your suggestions. Before the Yellow Cable Program was instituted, we used to have ethernet cables barcoded and available for a four-hour loan. That is something we can consider doing again. Unfortunately, loaning cables on the honor system just hasn’t worked out the way we hoped. Please stay tuned, and again, we are always open to any suggestions you have.
