Yellow Cables

We are in danger of losing the yellow cable service.
Yellow cable have been disappearing an an alarming rate and due to budget cuts we can no longer purchase new cables.
It is the responsibility of students borrowing the cables to return them when done.
Yellow cables are a shared resource and it is up to users to ensure that they are available for the next user.
Please encourage anyone who borrows a yellow cable to return it when they are done.
Please encourage students to return yellow cables that they see lying around in the cafe, Bi Hall, CFA, Main Library etc. to the bins at each library’s circulation desk.
Together we can save the Yellow Cables!
Once daily, please “sweep” the libraries for abandoned cables and return them to the bins.

Lost and Found

Each branch library has its own Lost and Found.
Lost and Found things that are not claimed should be sent to Public Safety at the end of every semester
Unclaimed personal books and media should be sent to Collections Management at the end of every semester
Unclaimed power adapters, computing equipment should be sent to the Helpdesk at the end of every semester
Every effort should be made to identify and notify the owner
Please alert a supervisor to valuable (jewelry, wallets, ID’s etc.) and electronic lost and found items (cell phones, flash drives, iPods etc.) so that they can try to identify and notify the owner
Midd ID’s – supervisors should email the card holder and if not claimed, forward to Public Safety
Items that may be valuable should be kept in a separate drawer that is locked at night
All other items are placed on the lost and found shelf or in the lost and found bin
Please check the lost and found regularly for library materials (things like library books, DVD’s and CD’s without cases, headphones and power adapters frequently end up there)
The lost and found is not a place to “find” a new sweater, hat or pair of gloves
Food and drink containers should be thrown out after 1 day to avoid spills and rodents

1, 2, 3 … and now 4 and 5: Keys for equipment storage units

To accommodate our ever-expanding equipment collection, we’ve moved several items into the storage units across from Doreen’s office. (The items, so far, include computer speakers, extra headphones, the minidisc recorder, and the new keyboards). I figured it’s time we started locking these units! So you’ll see two new keys on the “Equipment Storage Cabinet Keys” — a #4 and #5 that correspond to that new unit. Hope it’s clear — please leave a comment if you have a question.

Need help finding a book?

From our web pages:
Need help finding a book?
If you can’t find the library material you’re looking for, try these steps:

Check the listing in the library catalogue to make sure the item is listed as status available.
Make sure you’re looking in the correct library: Armstrong (McCardell Bicentennial Hall), Main Library, Music Library (CFA).
Check the “Location” of the item, it might be part of a specific collection: Reference, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Oversize, Vermont Collection, Reserves, Media, Government Documents, Mini-scores, or Special Collections. Each of these collections is housed together in separate areas in each Library, not with regular books on the shelves.
Check the Library Map to make sure you’re looking in the right place.
If you still can’t locate the item you’re looking for on the shelf, please report it missing.

There are several ways to do this:

Web:
Place a request through the library catalog, MidCat. This will initiate a search and we will hold the book for you if found. We will notify you by email if not found.
