Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
• Stacks – hired 5 new student workers; training
• Carrel Monday – preparing maps, applications, documentation, keys, and welcome cart for carrel day
• Requests and paging – increased activity in evenings
• Music – ILL picking up; made recording of Flanders songs to fill user request
• Increased support to Reserves on weekends/evenings
• Scheduling – vacation and sub requests for staff
• Armstrong – Armstrong is very busy, with everything; lots of questions, directions, printing, etc.; many classes scheduled this week in 161 lab; Reserves slowing down; lots of “hunting” for books.
• Nexpress, Rapid, ILL, Web Requests VERY busy.
• Armstrong has a new Printer!!! Yeah! Staff learning how to remove jams and change the toner
• Student schedules – Lots of changes and subs needed; hiring new; busy training and finalizing schedules
• Library hours – Library opening moved up to 7:45 am at Arm, response was instant and we’ve had students here at 7:45 am most weekdays.
• Equipment – 12 20G iPods on four-hour Reserve – for 3 classes – to ensure that they are available for required class assignments; request for iPods to be used in an art exhibit at the CFA; adding FS laptops to the Music Library -storage space ready
• Smooth shift overall into fall screening activity
Challenges:
• NExpress cancellation notices – no “reason” listed as to why cancelled
• Equipment – Having trouble meeting demand for PC-formatted external hard drives; 3 out of the Circ pool are “being repaired” – checking to see whether the broken ones will be resurrected
• Reference Desk “on call” on Saturdays and some evening slots – need clear guidelines for referring/assisting user requests for research help
• Need 10pm-midnight student shift back in the Main student schedule
• Film screening issue – film needed for 2 classes; placed on reserve for wrong class; FMP never updated with screening time change; DVD out to another faculty when needed for viewing; faculty did not receive confirmation of original request or response to request for changes
• Friday and Saturday evening staff LOA
• Faculty/staff laptops – increase in confidential docs/info left on laptops
