If you need help or want to talk through ideas and options, come to drop-ins hours at the Center for Careers & Internships (CCI) in Adirondack House every Monday-Friday from 2-5 p.m. No appointment necessary for drop-in hours!

What’s New in JOBS:

• Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) are often referred to as the domestic Peace Corps.  Spend a year in service in Vermont helping the state’s youth overcome the effects of poverty.  Apply now to be a Vermont Youth Tomorrow Americorps VISTA for 2014-2015.  Living stipend, health benefits and more.  (Deadline: 6/30)

JOB APPLICATION DEADLINES THIS WEEK (May 11-17):

• Teach for a one to two year appointment as salaried full-time Associate Teacher with mentoring, instructional immersion, professional development, and exposure to the theories and methods of early childhood education at Beauvoir, The National Cathedral Elementary School. (Deadline: 5/15)
• Spend the summer as a Trip Leader for Putney Travel leading middle school or high school students on trips anywhere in the world.  This is a great company and they love Midd Kids!   (Deadline 5/15)

CCI Reminders and Related Notices:

• Senior international students: You don’t need a job to apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), but if you find a job in the U.S., you need OPT in order to start working in the U.S.!  It can take up to three months for OPT to be approved, so if there is a chance you will be working in the U.S. after graduation, apply for OPT now!  Visit GO/OPT for details and instructions.  ISSS is always happy to meet with you to discuss your options after graduation.  E-mail isss@middlebury.edu with questions or call 802-443-5858.

• NEW! Peace, Trade & Development Summer Certificate Training at the Monterey Institute. This 4 week, active learning experience will teach current undergrads and prospective grad students key concepts and skills in human security, global trade, and social change and development. (Application deadline: 6/1)
• Y.O.U. is seeking applicants for its Summer 2014 Inspire Fellows Program. Inspire Fellows serve as workshop leaders and counselors for our high-quality, 9-week summer learning program, facilitating workshops in the arts, literature, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), or health and fitness. The fellowship offers students a paid, full-time opportunity to learn best-practices in youth development and to prepare for a career in youth development, education, and the non-profit sector.

• Interested in combining your interests in education with your technology expertise? Apply for the Deployment Internship at Rubicon International, an education technology firm best known for its leadership in the field of curriculum management. (Deadline 5/4)
• Deadline extended! As a Tutor Intern for Corazon a Corazon’s Summer Achievement Camp, you will be teacher, role model, caregiver, counselor and, sometimes, confidante to our diverse community of students in Chicago’s South Shore community. (Deadline: 5/5)

What’s New in JOBS:

• Spend a year in Uganda as the Marketing Fellow for Educate! which seeks to improve Ugandan education by integrating leadership, entrepreneurship course, interactive teaching, intensive mentorship, experience, and access to networks and resources.  Apply now; position will be filled on a rolling basis.  (Deadline: 5/7)
  
• As an AmeriCorps VISTA Outreach Coordinator with Families in Transition, a recognized nonprofit leader in providing affordable housing and programming for the homeless, you will partner with schools to promote greater understanding of poverty and create opportunities for volunteers to get involved.  Positions filled on a rolling basis; apply now!  (Deadline: 5/20)
• Fluent in Spanish and interested in teaching?  In this job as a Full-time Spanish Intern at Vermont Academy, you’ll be trained and mentored the first trimester and then ready to take over your own classes for the rest of the year! (Deadline: 5/22)
• The Dept. of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Washington, D.C offers 2-year SunShot Science & Technology Policy Fellowships for future scientists and engineers interested in energy efficiency and renewable energy policy.
