Fund Your Service Project Experience and Make a Difference Around the World!
The InterExchange Foundation Christianson Fellowship awards up to $10,000 to young Americans who are passionate about helping communities abroad thrive and are eager to learn about the local culture. Fellows identify a project or an organization working on an issue they care about, and with the support of the Christianson Fellowship, contribute their skills and passion to that endeavor for at least six months on-location abroad. This intercultural experience is a meaningful way to help others, improve skills, and gain insight about another culture.
How does it work? The volunteer project must be outside of the U.S. and conducted in-person at the host location. The project duration is typically at least 6 months in-person on-site.
The next application deadline is coming up on March 15 and interested students can apply online.
Lisa Heyn, Grants Coordination Director (212) 924-0446 would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the Fellowship.

The Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service
The Voyager Scholarship was created by the Obamas and Brian Chesky, Airbnb Co-founder and CEO. Even though they come from different backgrounds, both the President and Brian believe that exposure to new places and experiences generates understanding, empathy, and cooperation which equips the next generation to create meaningful change.
This scholarship gives college students financial aid to alleviate the burden of college debt, meaningful travel experiences to expand their horizons, and a network of mentors and leaders to support them.
We are looking for young people from every corner of this country who share a curiosity about the world and the conviction to want to make positive change within it—just like our founders. Students should have a passion for helping others, experience serving in or building community, and an expansive view of what’s possible through public service.
The Voyager Scholarship is open to students entering their junior year of college at an accredited four-year college or university in the US, who have demonstrated a financial need, and who are US citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients.
