1910: Ray Fisher graduates from Middlebury College to pursue his professional career with the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds, posting a career 100 wins. Fisher also started Game 3 of the 1919 World Series, the infamous series known for the Black Sox Scandal and lifetime suspensions of players such as “Shoeless” Joe Jackson. After his 10 year career, Fisher went on to coach the Michigan Baseball team, leading them to a College World Series victory in 1953. The current Michigan Baseball stadium is named Ray Fisher Stadium in honor the legendary player/coach.
