I have added Drupal’s Bibliography Module to the main website. This allows you to enter structured information about your publications, which you can then have appear on your Profile. The information will also appear in a central, searchable database of publications and may be displayed on other sites, like MiddLab.

Additionally, each person now has a space on the college website where they can post information about themselves and maintain a profile. To get to your page, go to http://www.middlebury.edu/middlebury_site/USERNAME where USERNAME is the first part of your email address, before the ‘@’ symbol. You can add a profile to this page if you’d like, or copy one here that already exists elsewhere on the Middlebury website.

A guide to using these new features is available on the LIS Wiki.

Once you’ve added publications, you can choose to have them appear on your profile using the citation style of your choice.

All 316 records from the Digital Lecture Archive are now available for browsing in MiddLab where they can be browsed with the subject tags assigned to them, commented on, and shared with others using the social media links in MiddLab. … Continue reading →

All 316 records from the Digital Lecture Archive are now available for browsing in MiddLab where they can be browsed with the subject tags assigned to them, commented on, and shared with others using the social media links in MiddLab. As new recordings are adding to the archive, they’ll be automatically added to MiddLab, making this a great way to find new content.

One of the original goals of MiddLab was to increase the visibility of Middlebury’s many academic projects and resources that would otherwise be buried within the site by giving them a central site accessible from the main site header. Adding the Digital Lecture Archive is just one of many such planned additions to MiddLab.

If you have other suggestions, please let me know and remember that it’s easier than ever before to tell the world about your research through MiddLab.

You can also follow MiddLab on Facebook and Twitter.

MiddLab is a section of our website that helps push information about scholarly and service work up to the top. We know that there are a lot of great academic resources built by people at Middlebury and many ongoing projects and activities that not everyone hears about or gets to see. The purpose of MiddLab is to:

Tell people about this great work.

See how it all ties together.

Let people contribute to the discussion.

Any student, faculty or staff member at Middlebury and MIIS can log in to MiddLab and write up a post about the project work or research in which they’re engaged. I’ve just made a change that will make doing this much easier. When you add a new post to MiddLab, it will give you a simple template to fill out.

Just fill in each section with information about your work….

And it will show up on the site for everyone to see. Working in MiddLab is now as easier as creating any other blog post on our WordPress site. I still recommend adding tags, categories and a location to your post so that people can see how it relates to work in other areas.

Of course, I’m still more than happy to work with you to get started and can be contacted at middlab@middlebury.edu.

Here are some other new things in MiddLab that you might have missed:

If your course in the Course Hub has a blog associated with it, and if that blog is public, it will now appear in a list of course blogs on MiddLab. See what people in these classes are talking about.

New working papers from the Economics department are automatically posted to MiddLab. You can also get an RSS feed of the working papers series.

Coming Soon: new lectures in the Digital Lecture Archive and public student theses in the thesis repository will be automatically added to MiddLab.
