Hear Me, See Me: Previously -incarcerated Women Write Saturday, April 5th, 4:00-5:30, Axinn 229

Categories: For Faculty, For Staff

Reading and panel discussion by former inmates of the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facilities. Facilitated by co-editors Sarah W. Bartlett and Marybeth Redmond. Several previously-incarcerated women whose raw, unedited writing appears in the collection “HEAR ME, SEE ME: Incarcerated Women Write”(Orbis Books, September 2013) will share their words and answer questions. They are among the more than 200 women with whom Sarah W. Bartlett and Marybeth Redmond have written in Vermont’s sole women’s prison since January 2010 when they co-founded writing inside VT. This program meets weekly at CRCF and is open to any woman wishing to use writing as a tool for self-discovery and growth within a community of trust that models non-judgment and respect. Posts of the inmates’ ongoing work may be read at writinginsideVT.com.
Womensing, the Addison County-based a capella group, will sing a few songs to introduce the event.
