Meditation Classes for Faculty and Staff

Categories: For Faculty, For Staff

Interested in learning how to meditate?  This fall there will be a series of six meditation classes for faculty and staff, funded by the Committee on Campus Stress and the Optimal Health Initiative Committee.  The classes will offer a non-denominational introduction to the basic practice of mindfulness meditation, which numerous studies have suggested is beneficial for reducing stress, promoting emotional balance and a sense of well-being, and improving concentration.  No previous experience with meditation is necessary. The classes will be led by local meditation instructor Chessy Kelley.

When: Tuesdays 12:30-1 p.m., beginning the week of October 8
Where: Wonnacott Commons Faculty House, 115 Franklin St.

Due to scheduling issues, the first class will be held on Thursday October 11 from 12:30-1, but thereafter the classes will be on Tuesdays at that time. The dates of the six classes will be October 11, October 23, October 30, November 6, November 13, and November 20.  Cushions and chairs will be provided.  No formal registration for the classes is necessary.  But if you plan to come, please send a note to John Spackman at jspackma@middlebury.edu.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact John at that address.
