I am sad to report that Virginia Hall, the former assistant director of physical plant for custodial services, passed away on November 15 in Zephyrhills, Fla. She was 72.

Virginia began working at the College in 1974 in the custodial department. In 1979 she became a lead custodian, and less than a year later she was promoted into the assistant director’s position, a post that she held until her retirement in March 1994.

Virginia and her husband, the late Robert Hall, were long-time residents of New Haven, Vt. Prior to her employment at the College, she worked at General Cable Corp. in Pownal, Vt.

She is survived by children Mark Hall of New Haven, Douglas Hall of South Salem, N.Y., and Donna Payne of Cornwall, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Arrietta Osborne of Chandler, Ariz., and a brother, Edward Coulter of Pownal, Vt.

Funeral services were held on November 20 at the Sherman Burbank Memorial Chapel in Williamstown, Mass., and burial followed at Eastlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass. 01247.
