Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to request nominations for the eleventh annual Middlebury College Citizens Medals, renamed “The Bonnie & John McCardell Citizens Medals ” in 2009, in honor of their ethic of public service. This program, started during the College’s Bicentennial year in 2000, is intended to recognize local residents who have helped strengthen the Addison County community through their public service. Over the past ten years, the College has presented medals to residents of Middlebury and surrounding towns for their service in such fields as medicine, education, business, philanthropy, government, and the arts. The list of past recipients is available at http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/resources/ace/citizen .

Nominations for the 2010 Citizens Medals should be submitted by replying to this e-mail or by sending a hard copy packet to me at: Dave Donahue, Office of the President, Old Chapel. The deadline is November 22nd.

Nominations may be submitted by any member of the faculty or staff. To be given fair consideration the nomination should consist of a 100- to 200-word summary of the individual’s contributions to the Addison County community, and a chronology of volunteer and public service related activities. You can nominate someone who has been nominated before, assuming they were not selected previously. Please note that nominees must be current residents of Addison County and that persons currently employed by Middlebury College are not eligible for the award. The names of the winners will be announced in January.

Thank you in advance for participating in this important program.

Sincerely,

Dave Donahue
